Glogg #2

A delicious recipe for Glogg #2, with raisins, sugar, almonds, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, orange, water, dry red wine, tawny port and brandy. Also lists similar drink recipes.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup golden raisins
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup blanched almonds
12 cloves
6 bruised cardamom pods
2 cinnamon sticks
2 pieces orange peel
1 1/3 cups water
3 cups dry red wine
3 cups tawny port
1 1/2 cups brandy

Method:
1. Combine all the non-alcoholic ingredients in a heavy enamel or stainless steel saucepan, bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.

2. Add the red wine and the port and bring to a boil again. Remove from heat and let steep, covered, for at least 2 hours.

3. Bring back to a simmer, add the brandy, and heat for 1 minute.

If you want to be fancy you can put it into a warmed metal bowl, turn down the lights and ignite it before serving.

Serve in irish coffee cup.

2 oz gin
1 oz lemon juice

In a shaker half-filled with ice cubes, combine the wine, lemon juice, sugar, and grenadine. Shake well. Pour into an old-fashioned glass and garnish with the cherry and the orange slice.

Ingredients:
2 cups distilled water
1 cup white corn syrup
1/2 cup sugar
2 – 3 drops yellow food coloring
1 1/2 cups 188 proof grain alcohol
6 drops anise extract
2 tsp vanilla extract

Method:
Boil water, corn syrup and sugar for 5 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients and stir. Cover and let stand 1 month.

Fruit Cooler

Ingredients:
1 can frozen apple juice concentrate
1 cup sliced strawberries
2 tbsp sugar
1 lemon
1 apple
1 liter soda water
ice

Method:
Toss strawberries with sugar, and let sit overnight in refrigerator. Cut lemon, reserve two slices. Juice the rest. Mix together the lemon juice, strawberries, apple juice, and soda water. Add slices of lemon (decor, really). In glasses, put ice cubes, and a slice of apple. Pour drink in, and serve.
